The People of Mathare
I am Rachael Anyango Ouko.
I am sixteen years old. I live in Mathare slum with my family which consists of six members - that is my three sisters, two brothers and one nephew. Our father died when I was still young and my mother abandoned us. So for now I don’t attend school due to lack of school fees so most of the time I am at home. At the moment I help my sister to get myself by. When I was a young girl my father use to dream of being a photographer one day but he did not make it - he died before his dream could come true. So for me, I would like to go on with the dream that my father had. I know I will make it if I work hard.
