Mary Akinyi
The People of Mathare
My name is Mary Akinyi and I am in standard 8 in Kareri Primary School. I live in Mathare where thousands of unemployed people live. It is very hard to understand someone who has not yet eaten and does not know where to get food.
I am lucky - I was brought up in a family with both of my parents. I am also particularly happy to have myself in the midst of 45 kids who are taking photography for a positive change in life.
May the Mwelu Foundation grow bigger and perform widely and across the nations.
