The School Outreach Project!

The school outreach as part of the Mwelu foundation is one of the department that deals with Photography and filming classes.

The programs have partnered with 4 schools namely Mathare community outreach, Valley academy, Cordman academy and the new school is redeemed.

The program currently have 74traninees who are taught about photography every week and when they close school we have one week workshop called the summer workshop were we came up with one product either in film or photography depending on the theme of the Workshop.

The project works hand in hand with senior members who train the 74 trainees in different school accompanied by supportive trainers who are being mentored to be lead trainers in the coming days. The project has benefited a lot of trainees now being able to frame, take creative pictures and write captions about the pictures.

The program also has trainers who deal with Creative writing and life skills where they try to make girls to open up and be super active in the school outreach classes. This helps in ensuring the girl child gets an equal opportunity compared to a boy child.
