Simon Onyango

My name is Simon Onyango, aged 17 and a last born in a family of five children. I am a young aspiring youth in journalism and film making with interests of script writing, video editing and photography. In order to fulfill my empty dreams, I have joined a youth photography group called Mwelu Foundation that I have got trainings and skills like camera operation, film production and creative writing for the last 4yrs I have been able to make several films and different photography projects.

I am currently enrolled in a High School whereby The Mwelu Foundation caters for my schooling. Despite the challenges that people undergo through in this Mathare slum that I call home, I am visualizing to change myself as compared to people who are visioning to change the slum forgetting that it starts with ones self.

Currently I regard myself as one of the key filmmakers and photographer.

It’s better to be a man with nothing but with a lot of visions and missions than the one with lots of things but has no visions and missions.
