The Mwelu Foundation

My name is Elijah Mumo, I am nineteen years old. I was born in Mathare slum and I am the last born in a family of four with two brothers and a sister.

I presently live with my sister in Mathare. Both my parents live in the countryside. I joined Mwelu Foundation in the year 2008 since I was inspired by Benson Kamau who is a photographer in the foundation.

Since I aspire to be a journalist I joined the foundation to acquire skills in order to pursue my career and fulfil my quest of being one of the best journalists in the world. To achieve this I spend most of my time taking photographs in and out of Mathare slum and getting the daily news from the slum.
