In Mathare many young girls become unexpectedly pregnant at a very young age – some of them through unprotected sex with their partner and some of them through rape. The child often grows up without knowing who their father really is. Some of the children are abandoned by their parents. If you walk through Mathare, you will see many young kids playing, crying and seemingly hopeless in life.
