Many youths from the slum who have lost their parents end up becoming street children - often as a result of a lack of hope and direction. They spend much of their time drinking chang’aa and sniffing glue. Some end up as gangsters involved in organised crime. The prospects for this lifestyle are not good - many die through gang violence at a very young age.
