Many parents leave their children to look after themselves during the day while they go to work to earn enough money for the family to survive. Often the oldest child takes on a large portion of the responsibility of bringing up the younger members of the family. This includes cooking, cleaning and bathing of their younger siblings. The older brother in this photo is 9 years old.
